Google Wants to Photograph your Restaurant

July 8th, 2011 • Posted by KitKat • Permalink

Google's Street View allows your prospective patrons to see the exterior of your restaurant but that was just the beginning of their effort to bring more local information to consumers. Google now wants to allow consumers to see inside your business. Yelp and all the other local-focused sites have created competition to get more local detail about businesses. Fortunately for Google, their size allows them to take on this new project in select cities around the country. Google photographers will go into your restaurant and take photos just for Google Places.

Google is starting with businesses in:

  • Orange County, CA
  • Pheonix, AZ
  • Bay Area, CA
  • San Antonio, TX
  • St. Petersburg, FL

If you're not in one of the initial cities you still have a chance - Google will be using requests to help pick where they go next. You can find out more here and request online that Google photograph your restaurant.

Make sure your restaurant's Google profile is completely filled out, it's one factor that they use for rankings, and is also an important way to make your restaurant look better in Google Places.
